June 27 is #NationalSunglassesDay!
Time to get out your swankiest sunnies and educate patients on how to protect their eyes. This Tuesday is National Sunglasses Day!
It’s not just about looking good. This is a teachable moment. Most people don’t know that years of cumulative UV exposure can cause cancer of the eye or eyelid, and can accelerate conditions like cataracts and age-regulated macular degeneration.
ZEISS makes sunlenses for some of the finest sunglasses in the world. In addition to prescription sunlenses and PhotoFusion self-tinting lenses for any frame, you can find ZEISS lenses in the sunglasses of RAEN, Victoria Beckham, AM Eyewear, TOMS, Ermenegildo Zegna, Mykita, Dick Moby, Gentle Monster, Karen Walker, Quicksilver, Roxy, Finest Seven, and more than 50 other brands. We’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes videos from our sunlens labs in Italy throughout the day Tuesday.
Want to celebrate National Sunglasses Day? Here’s how:
- Take a selfie with your sunnies on and tag it with #NationalSunglassesDay and #sunglassselfie.
- Share UV eye health info from the Vision Council. Example: Did you know kids’ eyes are more sensitive to the sun than those of adults?
- Check the UV in your area on this map.
- Encourage your patients to buy shades and wear them often.
