A mission to save sight: Dr. Michael McQuillan
ZEISS representative Tiana Graham recently told us about the efforts of Dr. Michael McQuillan to save sight among the orphans of Romania. His story is truly inspiring.
Dr. McQuillan, who practices in Camarillo, CA, has traveled to Romania on eye care mission trips not once, not twice, but 9 times! He gives eye exams to orphans in State Placement Centers, seeing about 150 patients a week, and giving away about 100 pairs of glasses. As Dr. McQuillan puts it, “The orphans in Romania are desperately poor and generally only get eye care from American volunteers.”
Tiana got to go along to edge lenses on these mission trips 3 times, and ZEISS has donated lenses to the effort. In his practice, Dr. McQuillan prescribes ZEISS Individual 2 progressives and uses ZEISS instruments like ZEISS i.Profiler, i.Terminal, and OCT.
We’d like to thank Dr. McQuillan and Tiana Graham for using their talents to serve those in need. And we’re proud to partner with a doctor so committed to saving sight!
If you’d like to support Dr. McQuillan’s efforts to get an automated screener which will help him see more patients per trip, please see his GoFundMe page.
