Make the wait worth it.

It happens s no matter how hard we try to prevent it....we get behind. At our practice we try to get patients going in optical if we know we're behind. Plus the patient doesn't know they're waiting longer than they were supposed to. I try to get the frame selection done, measurements taken and as many lens options I can entered and saved if I have time, that way all I have to do is get the rx and we're done. 

Have someone who wants an opinion from their sister, daughter  or spouse? Have them send pics and then while they're getting they're services done the other party can vote for their favorite frame.

Basically think outside the box, stay calm and try to do what you can to keep the patients moving forward as much as possible. To avoid a bunch of grumpy patients complaining in your waiting room.
