Saving some Green

Every optical I have worked in has had a standard business goal. Responsibly managing costs and maintaining focus on excellent customer service with a quality product.

I would like to share a few of my money saving ideas, maybe one could save your office a couple bucks.

To save on shipping I like to consolidate orders. Often we will order every other day with frame vendors. Safilo even has a "daily order" option when you order online.  #SafiloRocks

Read Invoices!!

Part of final inspection is to make sure things are correct, including billing. Watch for missed discounts, credits, shipping charges and that you were charged correctly.

Clear concise notes on orders helps the lab bill correctly (especially on a remake or restyle) and helps the dispensing optician know what's going on if they hadn't worked with the patient previously. For example on a restyle, did we get the old glasses back? Does the patient have a balance to collect at dispense.

Keeping staff up to speed onavailability and design helps sales go smoothly.  It stinks explaining to a patient that the great lenses you told them about isn't made.
