I have found that some new frame mountings, like OVVO Optics, put the eyewire barrel horizontal to the hinge. This is a cool look, but can potentially cause scratches in the frame finish as a screwdriver rotates during assembly. However, I found a simple solution. I wrap blue painters tape around the temple shaft while mounting which helps to protect the frame. It’s easy and cheap! Painters tape is a permanent part of my workbench.
