INTERVIEW: Tritia Ortiz

How was your company founded?

In 1947, Signet Armorlite (SA) was founded in Burbank, California, by Dr. Robert Graham shortly after the end of World War II.

What is one little-known fact about your company?

Armorlite pioneered plastic (CR-39®) lens casting in North America. Since then, SA has brought to the market a wide range of lens designs and proprietary lens materials, coatings and technologies.

What separates you from the competition?

Eastman Kodak Company, a world leader in photography, optics and imaging technologies, issued a licensing agreement to Signet Armorlite in 1993 for the right to use the Kodak brand for premium ophthalmic lenses. KODAK Lens are only available through independent eyecare practices, allowing eyecare professionals to offer a widely-recognized brand name to their patients.

What's one thing you'd like to share with opticians?

SA offers a full wide range of lens designs (bifocal, single vision, progressive, etc.), lens coatings and materials to fit every patient’s needs. With over 67 years of optical experience, Signet Armorlite continues to support independent eyecare practices with a full offering of optical products that deliver quality and innovation.

How should we explain your product to our clients?

We carry KODAK Lens, a name that you associate with a history of quality and trust.
