I have come to realize that Snapchat has been exploding in the Social Media world over the past year. Evidence of this can be seen in Instagram’s new video stories feature that was clearly designed to mirror the Snapchat experience.

What is Snapchat?
Snapchat is a social media app that let’s you share photos or videos called “snaps” that self delete after 24 hours. Because the content will self destruct in a short period of time, this means there is not as much pressure to create highly polished content. You can have fun and be a little goofy.
Why should your brand be on Snapchat?
We all want to reach that coveted millennial demo right. According the company on any given day 41% of the nation’s 18 to 34 year olds use the app. That is a huge number! And the company has added new features like voice calls, video conferencing, and the ability to send audio messages. This is a place that young people will be hanging out more and more as word spreads about the cool features.
How can we apply this to our businesses?
Begin by using the app yourself and becoming familiar with the features. Then create an account for your business. The Snapchat community is one where creative individuals will thrive. The whole app is designed to tell stories. Use it as a way to peel back the curtain on your business and give patients or clients the chance to see you behind the scenes.
I am still learning and experimenting with the app myself, but one of the things I have been doing is creating a snap every time I go out on location to shoot pictures of my frame review of the week.
