I don't know about you, but I cringe when someone comes in to buy a pair of sunglasses as a gift. Selecting a style without the person there is rarely an easy process and generally once the purchaser decides on a pair you find yourself answering questions like "What happens if they don't like it?" Ugh. I hate that one. In the back of my mind I keep thinking "If they don't like it, We've just wasted 20 minutes..." Gift certificates eliminate the issues of selecting the right style, returns and keeps your product on the board where it can be sold, however they can be impersonal and lack that 'true gift' feeling.
By giving our gift certificates a 'face lift' to look like a pair of sunglasses, wrapping them up in a designer case complete with cleaner, a cloth and a POS bag it's a win-win for everyone. Our guest has something to wrap up and give, the recipient picks out the pair they really want and our inventory stays on the board vs. in a box waiting to be returned.
Besides, how cool is it when you can make arts & craft time a legitimate work activity?!?!
