Did you know that most of the injuries to the eye are caused by baseball? After that is basketball, then water sports, and then – racquet sports like tennis or badminton or squash. This is surprising considering the fact that racquet sports propel smaller balls at greater velocities, compared to basketball for example. We try to recommend to all our patients who play sports of any kind, to have a sport pair of glasses as a second pair with polycarbonate lenses. Patients don't realize the importance of protective lens material unless we educate them. Many think that a standard CR-39 lens is fine, and will protect them. They think that plastic lenses will not break, when in fact they can. Summer sports have begun so keep those sport frames in a featured area.
