I Run 4 Jaiden

Our staff celebrated the 4th of July by participating in our local Firecracker 4 Mile Run as a team in honor of Jaiden Lewis, a four year boy who struggles valiantly in spite of his numerous disabilities. I was paired with Jaiden through a Facebook site known as I Run for Michael. I have never met him or his family but communicate with posts about my training and my races. He inspires me to push myself harder when I might otherwise give up. Thanks to the Race Director, I was able to send him a box of goodies before the race, including a tee shirt and some race day hats for the whole family. My staff designed and made shirts together for the big day and I am sure we will wear them again in honor of Jaiden, at future races. Those who didn't run the course, came and cheered us on. It was a great way to spend time together outside of the office and do something healthy in support of a young boy who has to battle every single day. People are always telling me what a great staff I have. Most remain close friends long after they no longer work here. This is one of the secrets to keeping everyone connected! By picking a goal or activity outside of the normal office routine and giving everyone a chance to contribute in the way that works best for them. We all end up feeling invested in the practice and each other! Healthy, happy and connected.it's a win-win! SELECT to learn more about Susan Halstead (New York). VIEW Susan's entire blog.
