A Fond Farewell, and A New Beginning!

Hello DailyOptician Family!

Today is a sad day – it is my last day at Peepers Optical in Denver, Colorado. It has been a long, strange trip over the last 5 years. Technically 5 years, 1 month, 1 week, 2 days… but who’s counting? ;)

I feel honored and privileged to have been part of such a strong, dedicated, service-oriented group. I have seen many great faces come and go, both patients and other staff, but my time has come to an end.

For those who don’t know, I have been accepted to the Western University of Health Sciences’ Optometry class of 2021. It’s time to reward myself with a well-deserved vacation before I head off – mostly camping and traveling around the Southwestern United States before my first day on August 7.

To my fine co-workers: I couldn’t ask for a better group to be a part of. I appreciate your hard work, and help to allow me the opportunity to get to where I am.

To my DailyOptician family: Keep demanding the best of yourself, and you will yield the best results. Keep finding joy in your work, and especially in your patients. Some days are great, others are just okay. Remember the lessons you learn every day, and lean on those who support you the most; coworkers, reps, and those who read our website.

I will miss everyone, but I will keep checking in and reading all of your updates. And most importantly, I am not leaving the industry – it is a small world (in optical) and I can’t wait for our paths to cross again.

I will also be attending Vision Expo West for my second visit – after last year, there’s so much more to see and do – that I am excited! Let’s meet and grab drinks! I’ll let everyone know if they let me into the “Opticians on Facebook” party this year, since I’m on the road to becoming an optometrist.

I don’t like to say goodbye, so until next time…

Alex Bennett, ABOC
